Ski-Plane on Tasman Glacier

Judges Comments

An interesting shot of the "I was here variety", but unfortunately needing a lot of work to become a competition shot.
The main subject is dead centre, facing away from the camera. The characters seem to serve no particular purpose.
There are photographer footprints leading from the aircraft and there is a distinct blue colour cast. OK.
What do we do? Well, retake the photo for a start! Place the aircraft towards the edge of the frame, facing in.
Frame it with an attractive background (it should be a good image even without the plane), and get rid of the blue cast.
Ask the figures to move somewhere useful or out of the frame altogether and avoid making footprints in a
straight line towards the camera. In general, photos of planes don't work unless they're
doing something spectacular and they're best left to become part of the scenery.
