The first time you arrive in Japan you're probably going to be surprised at the number of bicycles here. Actually bicycle has been my main form of transportation since I moved here 6 years ago. I haven't owned a car here, yet in Australia I owned two cars! Even though my wife's and my combined incomes these days is only about 1/3 of what it was in Australia we save a lot more money, by not having cars.
