Fire on a tule-covered island in the Suisun Marsh. The fire fighters couldn't get to the island so they're letting the fire burn itself out.

As far as I know just the tules on the island burned. Tules are kind of like rushes. The marsh has very few residents, mostly buildings belonging to duck hunting clubs. The firemen (who are volunteers) did a controlled preventive burn on their side of the slough to prevent embers from the watched fire creating new ones. I guess despite the recent rains things are still very dry.

Wow, what a shot. You look to be a long way away and still you can see the flames. Do you know what it was that burned? I wonder how hard it is on firemen to have to just sit and watch the fire burn.
