Sandhill Cranes 7522

Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area, Southeastern Arizona

I took a day-long drive all over Sulphur Springs Valley in search of the Sandhill Cranes
out in the fields. They winter here by the tens of thousands! I found lots of Hawks,
mostly Red-taileds, but only saw one flock of Sandhills way in the distance until I got to
Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area.

Whitewater Draw is open land with bodies of water, run by the Arizona Game and Fish Department,
which attracts birds, water fowl, raptors, coyotes, deer, Sandhill Cranes, etc.

Beautiful captures both of them, and I particularly like the feeling of layering in the bottom one.

So good to see the large flock of cranes. They look similar to our cranes and are probably as noisy. Excellent captures, Carol! V
