I decided to take apart the internal hard drive that failed on my computer. I also decided to take photos of what I found just for the heck of it. As you all probably know, there are two shiny disks inside and a set of four heads. I got to thinking that with two disks there are four surfaces. If it is a 500 gig drive, that means that each surface has to store one trillion bits of data. that is a boatload of data for sure. Anyway, as I was looking at the photographs I noticed that I caught a self portrait in the reflection from the disk surface. Pretty cool. Easily amused.

I have dismantled lots of these. And you will not believe this, but none of them ever worked again when I put them back together. Really weird, I think they are booby trapped at the factory.

This one ended up in my show and tell box of broken stuff.

For safety sake John, take it apart, then bend the discs over something with a hammer.
