This is the computer and photography complex at our house. A week ago I had a new hard drive installed in my computer and I have been really happy. Everything is working perfectly. The glitches from before seem to have been eliminated. I think that has more to do with a clean Windows 7 installation and the elimination of all the bloatware that comes with the computer. So, my printer is working well, all the peripheral disks are up to snuff and the computer is running along tickety boo. Life is good.

I have no plans to upgrade to W 10.

If it looks like windows 8, and runs like Windows 8, I'll be a late adopter

Dave I wish it were that easy, I have Googled some of my problems and it appears that Windows is the culprit. I have stuff on my computer that I cannot find in the control panel. So if Windows 10 don't fix it, a new computer will be next.

Wonderful! It sounds as if the peasants have been
mollified and peace has returned to the realm.

Note to John Cooper:
The Windows Control Panel makes it easy to delete
programs. If a program has a name you don't
recognize, search for the name on the Web.

Microsoft has not yet explained the hardware requirements
for Windows 10. It would not surprise me if 10 requires
equipment that many people lack, thus forcing many to
buy a new computer to handle it.

You are so lucky.
My computer is almost unworkable with all the crap on it that I don't know how to remove.
Today I read that Windows 10 is going to be free to anyone with Windows 7 and above.
I will be happy to try that, might save buying a new computer.
