The first bloom on a batch of amaryllis bulbs we planted a couple of years ago.
We also planted the white version which to my mind is a far more attractive
flower and I've featured it several times in other galleries. We were starting
to think we had bought duds when the pink one failed to produce a bloom, so
imagine my delight to discover 2 stems sticking up out of the ground!
They have the nick name "Naked Ladies" because they bloom before they produce
leaves!
