1-14-2015 My first Bald Eagle shot of 2015

One of the great new features of the Canon 5Diii (as well
as the new 7Dii and 1Dx) is that it will autofocus at f8 (rather than the previous minimum of f5.6)
So this was taken with the Canon 400 f5.6L and 1.4x extender. The autofocus worked perfectly....

Thanks Pete. For whatever reason Canon SLRs up until about a year ago, would not autofocus with an extender unless the minimum f-stop was 5.6 (with the exception of the 1D series). Fortunately they changed that :)

I don't understand why the older camera would not focus at f8. As I thought that it worked for all f-stops, but then I've only got a Pentax - lol
Certainly a cracking shot and sharp too with a pleasing pose

Thanks, Michael. Wasn't sure about the 6D, so that's great! It certainly adds flexibility. I'll be watching for your shots :)

I would say she was right on target. Similar function on the 6D. Makes a huge difference. I am anxious to get back to Shiloh. I hear the couple has been seen in the vicinity of the nest...
