Windmill De Huisman has been located above the spice warehouse Indië’s Welvaren since 1955, but they used to be next to each other. Snuff mill De Huisman (1786) and spice mill Indië’s Welvaren (1908) were forced to move as the city of Zaandam expanded. The buildings now form a single modern business in a centuries-old exterior. The delicious aroma of freshly-ground spices fills the air. Three pairs of millstones now grind tropical products in a corner of the warehouse and the interior of the authentic shop has been lovingly restored.
