20150114_2175 "And when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you" (Wed 14 Jan)

James Watkinson Reserve, Pyrmont, NSW

Nietzsche said some ridiculous things, some interesting things, and some amazingly insightful things. And the quote that I have put for today's image title falls into the last grouping.

Somewhere out there (perhaps not in line of sight of these binoculars, but out there somewhere) is my place of employment.

Not that I'm suggesting it's an abyss, oh no my. Nor that I have spent far too long gazing into it. Nor that it has lost the plot to the extent that it makes the script writing of most soap operas look good, even Home And Away.

Aw crud, who are we kidding?

I was officially informed this morning that my assistant would be terminated from the end of February. I shall therefore be handling the entire budgeting season without a backup, and without the possibility of leave for at least 4 months, probably 5, from March to July inclusive.

Without backup. With no other single individual on the planet, much less the company, who has an appreciation of how the whole budget system hangs together, much less interfaces to and from other systems. Who runs a business that way?

To the person who does, I should quote another favourite philosopher of mine, Inspector "Dirty" Harry Callahan... "So you'd better ... pray that nothing happens to me."

It's a shame they have decided to overwork you! I hope it goes well. This is a great image, they always look like binoculars but never have any magnification and cause you to lose focus on the whole picture. Well Done!

More work with less staff is the story of my job life. I hope things go smoothly. Very interesting image. V

Sounds very familiar. A survey published this week found that the majority of Irish workers feel undervalued and underpaid although I don't know why they needed to carry out a survey to come to that conclusion. And I guess it's the same pretty much the world over.

sigh. DO MORE WITH LESS..... is the exact reason I got out of the Navy- Sorry to hear this is lost on your management.
