oculi (plural of oculus)
are circular openings in a dome or in a wall. The word is
from Latin oculus: eye, and in French it is known as œil
de boef (English: “bull’s-eye”). The oculus below is in the
wall of the Northern River Boat Station, Khimki, Moscow.
