This image was created using a toy SR71, it's not real obviously. Would love a chance to shoot such an image in real life conditions, but not likely to ever happen... I used a humidifier for the ethereal effect, black scarves I borrowed from my wife for the jet wash effect, some shims and clamps to hold the plane in position, a flashlight for lighting select areas of the picture for select amounts of time and a picture of lightning in the background.
