the Bay of Quinte is
a “Z” shaped bay which is located on the northern shore of Lake Ontario
not far west of where the Saint Lawrence River begins. Adolphus Reach
runs west-southwest for 25 kilometres from its outlet to the lake. At Glenora
it turns north-northeast for 20 kilometres, then west southwest again near
Deseronto, for 40 kilometres. The Belleville area(on the Bay of Quinte) had
a reputation, during the Prohibition era in the United States (1920-1933),
as a producer of illegal booze which was shipped via Lake Ontario to New
York State. The Bay is also regarded as the best place (in North America)
to catch a trophy Walleye (and other sportfish common to the Great Lakes).
