Flock

When we took Fudge for a walk today, we were treated to a magnificent display of birds flying in formation over Dundalk Bay.
I used the digital teleconverter feature of the OM-D E-M5 to zoom in close enough to capture the flock but the quality isn't very good.

Most likely European Starlings? They are beautiful in their synchronized movements, also known as murmuration.

Wow, still extraordinary even at this distance. The not too expensive Oly 75-300 is a good telephoto lens for your OM-D. V

It's a good catch of them I think. The flock is big!! I love the patterns the flock takes as they fly.

An amazing sight! It extends for an impressive distance!

Nothing beats real zoom, but the 40-150 (even if it were available, which it's not, IIIT'S NOOOOT!) would be stretching the budget a little.
Looking at the length of the trail that is a seriously big flock. I like the contrast of the black smear against the big bird up in the top left (the one leaving contrails).

A lovely scene, where the sea meets the sky and the bonus of the birds!

Definitely a huge number of birds, and you were fortunate to be able to capture them, even from such a distance.
