Forging a path across the southern United States, the Old Spanish Trail goes from St Augustine Florida to San Diego California. The original route became US 90 on the eastern side and US 80 on the western end. This changed drsatically with the development of 4 lane highways.
Yhe route was promoted as the old Spanish route taken by conquistadors and explorers. While some of the old Spanish Trails were nearby, this was not a truly historic trail,
This section of the Old Spanish Trail is located west of Crowley Louisiana. This is the original route, on the sourh side of the railroad tracks. Over the years, US 90 relocated to the north side of the tracks, and while it also is a two lane road - it is paved and well maintained.
