A Red-Winged Blackbird Wintering On the Mexican Border

Claims have been made that it is the most abundant living land bird in North America, as bird-counting censuses of wintering red-winged blackbirds sometimes show that loose flocks can number in an excess of a million birds per flock and the full number of breeding pairs across North and Central America may exceed 250 million in peak years.
.
PS, I presume this looks moderately ok...processed on my laptop with an old version of CS3...if this needs contrast or something, please let me know...thanks

I'd agree with the comment about the overwhelming numbers of these birds. We've got a bazillion of them too. I don't BIF very well so my attempts to shoot them has been minimal. Looks real good to me. Paul.

Looks good to me ... The black bird is basically backlit but it still holds detail. Good job. - Ken

Thanks Jim....I did burn the lower portion, but I also had to be careful with contrast so that the bird did not disappear in its blackness...also birds in full flight are difficult to catch...at least for me. This was not easy to accomplish....1/320 of a second...No, 1/500sec, no, eventually I captured the guy at 1/1250, f5.6, iso 400.

Best wishes, Traveller...raining like a dog down here in Mexico...I can't go anywhere.
