I started today like a damp squib, not because it’s the start of the working week (I still love to bits the fact that I am working at something I love) but because I’ve been feeling under the weather and therefore felt I’d failed to do everything I’d “needed” to over the weekend. Poor DM had to listen to me mithering on about how I’d not done this and missed out that.

“Stop” he yelled – think about what you HAVE done over the weekend. You’ve been to the vet (check), been to get his glasses (tick), replaced my worn out boots (ping), been to buy wild bird food (yep), been to the supermarket (tick), done all of the washing, got in the logs for the week, sorted out the kindling, taken the dogs for their walks…etc etc He thinks that’s an indication of me being on fire and unrealistic in my plans.

HHHmmm – OK, all of that is true but I DIDN’T sort, iron and put away the washing, do the big online food shop, do the work work that I’d planned to get done before going back to the office today. Instead I flumped on the sofa, felt decidedly sorry for myself and wished for a slanket.
