This is the first time I have seen two snowy owls perched so close to each other in a natural setting. There were up to 8 owls last Spring at the Central Experimental Farm that perched close to one another on some man-made structures. A few years ago at Boundary Bay where you had 8+ snowy owls all sitting together allowed researchers to rethink snowy owl behaviour. Away from their breeding grounds snowy owls can be quite tolerant of one another.
Both owls were perched fairly close to one another when we arrived. Later in the morning, the juvenile owl actually flew to where the adult male snowy was perched.
