Hal and I had a lovely day out
at Kilalea today.
The weather was perfect and it was a bonus
to come across this lovely Blue Heron in
the grass. We usually see them at the waters edge.

Nice that TTL members can meet up,
A fine nature shot in this unusual setting.

A fine shot Sally.
We saw them in the same area last time.
They may be nesting there.
Usual name is White-faced Heron.
Smaller than the American GBH.

Nice shot Sally. He is very similar to out Heron - they must be related

Beautiful, Sally. This bird is quite different than our Great Blue Heron - I love its facial markings. I wonder if it is in breeding plumage.

I have never seen a heron in the grassland...they usually have wet feet. Very interesting, and a fine image as well...
