Banyoles. Poblat Neolitic de la Draga

The site of La Draga (Banyoles) was discovered in April 1990 and belongs to the Neolithic, about 7,000 years ago. According to the prospections in 1990 and 1996 systematic drilling, the town occupies 10,000 m2, of which 1,000 m2 have been submerged in the lake. In the dry area archaeological work began in 1990 , while in the submerged part works have been going since 1994.
The Draga is the only prehistoric lacustrine environment of the Iberian Peninsula. 317 posts cabins that have been found and eight wooden objects recovered underwater, makes this settlement as important as thouse in the Alpine Region
