Oak and oil paint

The drawers of this small paint box are full of 17th and 18th century pots, bottles
and bowls with the remains of pigments. Although this creates the impression that
the box was actually used over a long period of time, it is more likely to have been
a charming, eye-catching objet in an artist's studio. It is decorated inside and out
with landscapes and scenes of cavalry battles.
