At one time the place across the way was a working wharf. The stevedoring functions have long since moved to other locations, and the buildings were gentrified and turned into horrendously expensive apartments whose architecture echoes that of the wharves they once were.
How expensive? Well I grant you that this is not typical but one of the apartments at the northern end of this building which has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms (480 square metres in total though the land area is 0 since it's sitting over water) is currently for sale.
And I also grant you that this is a seriously nice place. Even I would be tempted were it not for the fact that I noticed how little margin there is between the decking and the water at high tide these days, which makes me nervous.
How much, I hear you ask?
