In this version, I used Topaz 5; HDR effects; Heavy Grunge.
Then I used Smart Image Fix to lighten
the photo to taste... all in Paintshop ProX6.

While I can see that the colors are now brought out, it looks very noisy to me and the sky in the background is an odd color.

I can see how this method can bring out the color and detail in an overly dark shot like mine. And your results would be even better if you were able to start with the original file, instead of the web-sized you had access to. Although I wouldn't say this is how it appeared to me in person, I do like your version. :)
