Taken at maximum eclipse, the Moon covers approximately 60% of the Sun's surface.
The remarkably large sunspot group, AR2192, about the size of Jupiter, lies at the edge of the Moon's shadow.
A hydrogen alpha filter, which transmits a specific wavelength of red light, highlights the sunspots as well as the Sun's turbulent surface.
