The scene: In bed at 8.30am. Linda is looking at the news on her Hudl while supping her first cup of tea,
Linda: I know this is an odd thing to say on a Sunday morning but could we go out tonight?
David: (suspiciously) Where? Why? What?
Linda: I REALLY want to go to the cinema to see Northern Soul. It’s only on tonight that’s the only showing in Plymouth.
David: What is it? A documentary?
Linda: No – it’s fiction and it looks great. Can we make a night of it – go for a pizza, then go to the cinema?
David: OK
So, we stepped out properly (as in out of our village) on a trip to Plymouth. When I shot this photo in Pizza Express, I had the biggest grin on my face imaginable and declared that it was the most exciting event I’d experienced in ages. Of course the cinema was full of “people of a certain age” (including us) and there was an air of excited expectation before the show started. I’m not going to spoil it for those yet to have the pleasure but I’d just say “don’t expect a documentary-style film” and you’ll love it.
It’s the first time we’ve been out of Liskeard for a night out for almost a year (last time was Martha and the Vandellas). It was all the better because it was only planned this morning.
