At the North end of Lake McDonald there is a paved road that goes across McDonald Creek and to a ranger station and some inholding properties. Just after you cross the creek, there is a trailhead on the right for McDonald Creek. It is a very nice trail except for the fact that it is also a horse trail, so you need to watch where you step! Anyway there were lots of nice mushrooms and views along the way until you reach the creek where we stopped. This is a nice group of mushrooms here with some puffballs to the right.
