Squall at sunset, Imperial Beach, California, 2014

The sun has dropped below the horizon, yet it still illuminates a rain squall miles off shore. A somewhat chilled bather, his shoulders wrapped in a crimson towel, stops in the foreground to savor the scene. We share this view of those distant showers together with him. A lone horizontal wave echoes the horizontal beach, ocean, and rain squall.

Thanks, Raf, for your comment. This image tells its story through the play of weather itself. The man shields himself against the chilly wind with a towel draped over his shoulders. He seems to be envying the warm glow of a setting sun about to break through a ceiling of heavy overhead clouds. Meanwhile, a solitary wave gently flows towards him, it's tumbling crest echoing the distant fall of rain against the golden sky.
