Lichfield Cathedral
While taking this shot I was approached by a gentleman who explained that the large central tower which was destroyed in the Civil War was actually replaced with Derbyshire limestone rather than the local Lichfield quarried sandstone that the rest of the buildings were made from as the local quarry had been exhausted by the 1660's when repairs were started. I have no reason to doubt his statement as it does indeed appear to differ from the surrounding material.
