I pruned this big shrub rose in June, and already it has flowers while the
rest of the rose garden has only canes and new spring leaves. The petals
are usually darker once we have warmer days. Our climate is
warm to hot and dry and the colours are variable depending on climate.
There has been some controversy over
this rose in Australia, sometimes it has been labelled as 'Monsieur Tiller'
but as I bought my plant from one of the pioneers to introduce the old
roses to our Australian state, I call it by the name he gave it.
Introduced in France 1892.
