Ye Olde Photographer wanted to create a moderately large border around his 8x10
contact prints while maintaining some alignment. So he used a piece of dark mat
board for a base and selected two-ply Bristol board as a paper location guide as
it is about the same thickness as his favorite Ilford printing paper. A purchased
12 x 12 inch black scrapbook page proved to be almost identical in thickness to the
Fuji H-RT X-ray film. The idea is that a glass pressure plate placed over the sandwich
would not be held off the negative, maintaining best contact and therefore, focus.
