The locusts (cicadas) have been singing furiously in the evenings in the trees. This is the 7 year group that emerged from the earth. I watched this one shed its shell. I read that they shed in the dark so their wings can dry before dawn, otherwise the birds would eat them too easily. What a beautiful sight.
