Monarch Butterfly chrysalis

Just before bursting forth into a beautiful female monarch!!
I've been rearing the caterpillars in my house on milkweed in mason jars.
After eating their fill they travel to a high spot and attach themselves for completing the metamorphosis.
This one chose my living room wall, hanging there for 2 weeks.
I released the butterfly outside a couple of hours later.

Shadow play.

What an amazing nature capture that few of us ever get to see first hand. It is so beautiful with the butterfly visible inside. V.
