This is the last Exakta produced in the Ihagee factory. It is a simplified VX1000, and the
venerable Exakta company hoped it would be popular, and rescue the noble name. Alas,
the famous trapezoidal shape was doomed by the Japanese imports such as the Nikon F
and the Pentax Spotmatic. More than anything else, the tiny Exakta lens mount made
it difficult to design really wide lenses, and the lack of motor drives and other
such features led the old fellow to ride off into the sunset.
