Je suis le piper Robert Halliday du 7th Bataillon des Seaforth Highlanders. J’ai le matricule S/2177. Je profite de quelques instants de repos avec un compagnon d’arme avant de prendre part à la bataille de LOOS EN GOHELLE ou je serai mortellement blessé le 02/10/1915.
Les cornemuses avaient bien plus qu'un rôle folklorique, elles avaient pour vocation de renforcer le courage des soldats, d'indiquer des positions statégiques et de terroriser l'ennemi.

I am the piper Robert Halliday of the 7th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders. I am / Regimental S 2177. I take a short rest with a brother of arms before taking part in the Battle of Loos IN GOHELLE where I will be mortally wounded on 02/10/1915.
The pipes had more than a folkloric role, they were on the battlefield to reinforce the courage of the soldiers, to indicate stategic positions and terrorize the enemy.
