Two images of a Canada Darner.
I previously posted three images of what I thought to be a Canada Darner; however, Chris Bruce pointed out to me that in fact my previous posting was a Black-tipped Darner. Thanks Chris. For my previous posting see http://www.pbase.com/image/156868676
Black-tipped Darners reportedly have straight lines on the sides of their Thorax and the tip of the abdomen is black. With the Canada Darners, the blue stripes (rings) on the abdomen extend to the tip and the lines on the sides of the Thorax are irregular (not straight). I believe the present posting to be that of a Canada Darner. In the top image, the blue stripes (rings) can be seen to extend to the tip of the abdomen. The bottom close-crop image does not clearly show the irregular lines on the Thorax; however, I checked some of my other images and though not conclusive, the lines do not appear to be straight.
