This lone Ibis flew over me at Plum Hills lot and kept going northward at a decent height finally alighting in the marsh grass of the High Pines peninsula (out of sight). It stayed only about 5 minutes in the marsh and then flew up - rising pretty high and continued up the Beach - heading NNW.
I kept pace in the car to HP, and got some photos. This one and a distant shot of it landing in the marsh (see next pix) document that it is either a Glossy Ibis or White-faced Ibis, but they are not sufficient to be absolutely certain that it is a Glossy - especially since this looks to be a sub-adult. The National Geographic writeup makes it pretty clear that separating the two in the field isn't always possible. While the East Coast location makes it almost certainly a Glossy Ibis, WFGI have been reported on the north shore.
This might be the bird last reported 7/17 at Daniel Webster Widlife Sanctuary in Marshfield - it definitely was flying in that direction and the locations aren't far apart as the Ibis flies.
