The 1906 spire is the only part of the original church that survived WW2. Its ground floor entrance hall is now used as a memorial hall. Its original vault ceiling mosaic depicts Prussian/German monarchs of the Hohenzollern dynasty.
In the foreground is the Coventry Cross, made from three nails recovered from the Coventry Cathedral, which was severely damaged by a German air raid in 1940.
During our visit, the spire is under renovation with its lower portion completely covered with scaffolds.
