Not an exciting image but the swirl is what caught my eye (the white dot on the right side is a Mute Swan). I'm trying to learn a new technique: using the AF-ON button for focusing instead of the shutter button. It's sometimes referred to as Back Button Focusing. I went out yesterday and I now have "many" images where I forgot to use the back button for focusing - old habits are hard to break :-) I think there is promise in using it but it's just going to have to take a bit of extra effort on my part to get used to it.
For those that don't know what it is: basically it's "focus" then recompose the image. You don't have to fiddle around with moving the focus points to your subject and you can pre-set the focus for a certain spot (like at weddings) and not have keep holding the shutter button half pressed waiting. An Internet search on "Back Button Focus" will get you lots of articles and videos.
I'd be interested to hear which of you use this technique and what you think of it.
