found in the Gurnet Boathole area about 2 hours before high tide. Associating with a very mixed flock of Semipalmated Plovers, Semipalmated Sandpipers, Least Sandpipers, and Short-billed Dowitchers. (no Black-bellied Plovers in the immediate area)
When I saw the white under the tail and white blotches down the flanks and recalled that a European Golden Plover has recetly been reported in NJ, I checked to see if this could be more than an AMGO. Several books indicate that unlike the male, the female AMGO shows both attributes. More conclusively, unlike the European or Pacific Golden Plover, this bird's wide white neck border stops abruptly part way down the side.
