Series of three (3)images: This series was shot even further away than the Great Blue Heron (next photo in this gallery); but I was amazed at how sharp and detailed the images were. Again, cudos to this D810 and the amazing 36 MPix sensor.

Top image: Flying in " Lookout Mallards"

Middle image: Landing on "his" rock.

Bottom image: Standing on "his" rock; grooming and generally doing nothing. Note that he still has his breeding plumage; but the turquoise bar under the eye and extending to the base of the beak has disappeared.
