Tattoo Part Deux

Tattoo Faction

Rewind to 1989 and wanting to get a tattoo. Been there, done that and got it… Nothing so special or all that well thought out, a piece art chosen with some other guys in a far away Navy port. Lots of ink on me that was never quite well done or taken care of and gradually it has turned into a faded mess. For a bunch of years I have gotten to talking about doing something over it and never followed thru with it. Recently after research and just deciding to "cover it up" we have todays PaD.

Tattoo part deux happened today and after having limited choices in selection of a coverup piece due to size adn shape of the old tattoo I am done. I forgot how much these things hurt. I guess the mind lets us forget real pain as if we truly remembered it we'd not do it again and from the looks of my mild mannered artist friend Chuck, at Tattoo Faction- he'd not do it either. Seeing a young lady getting her ribs inked was horrific. She was in tears and the artist was losing his patience at her constant sobbing and moving about as he tried to save his reputation in putting a nice tattoo down on such a sensitive area. I'll for sure not be getting any more tattoos in this life time. Very content with this reworked area and my other one on my leg.

While there, I asked the artist if I could set my camera up and do a stop motion series of photographs of the session. 3 hours of being inked was caught with a series of individual photos that I will edit into a 90 second film to show start to finish.

You're a navy guy, tattoos would be expected. I have none; I've never felt that they had any appeal, and in a long-previous vocation it was wise to be as nondescript as possible. (Mind you, these days I probably stand out more from NOT having any.) In fact it still is to some extent; many people underestimate the usefulness in any job of being able to blend into the background so that other people are more inclined to speak freely and unguardedly.
Nor has the pain ever been an incentive; a back wax is bad enough. But to each their own.
You do however remind me that rather than fluffing around on PBase I should be doing a new video of my own. I trust that when yours is done it'll be on You Tube or similar...
