Southwest Airlines was ending air service to Key West three days later on June 7, 2014. I wanted to fly down there on a Southwest B737-700 because the runway is so short (4800 feet) and they do a max braking when landing and a max performance takeoff departing. So I found a great airfare on Southwest and we flew from Ft. Lauderdale to Tampa and had a great breakfast at Shula's Restaurant in the Southwest terminal before connecting to our Tampa to Key West flight.
