The Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral) was consecrated in 1905, 11 years after construction started in 1894. The German Kaiser provided most of the fund for its construction. Money for its restoration starting in the 1970's came from West German donation when this area was still under communist DDR rule.
Technically, it is not a cathedral, since the parish church of the bishop of Evangelische Kirche Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische Oberlausitz is Marienkirche on Alexanderplatz.
