Männlichen is an alpine plateau in the Jungfrau Region of central Switzerland, high above Grindelwald to the east and the Lauterbrunnen Valley to the west. The slopes are home to free-roaming cattle in the summer and much of the mountain is covered with carpets of alpine flowers, interspersed with winding mountain tracks and the occasional cow shed and ski lift station. The mountain-top restaurant is reached by cablecars from valleys on both sides, while the peak of the Männlichen ridge, at 2,345 metres above sea level, affords momumental views to Stechelberg, Grindelwald, Grosse Scheidegg and Interlaken, and even as far as Thun and the Thunersee
