Gossamer angel,
carried aloft on lavender wings,
Seek freedom far from lonely little worlds.
Far from river valleys,
far from prairie plains
ascend toward mountain passages.
Turn angel,
catch the sun; spy the world below.
Watch white outlines laid on jagged
black become transformed.
A kiss of orange light…
cotton clouds caress the earth.
Cast an eagle’s eye on ermine landscapes
trimmed with narrow strips of cold dark brown.
Fly yet higher.
Let bright sunlight warm your wings
reflecting rainbows on the pale lands below.
