My dad passed away on June 17th, 2014, at the age of 85.
Prof. dr. hab. Izydor Wiesław Dziubiński was a recognized expert in the field of analytic functions and differential equations, the author of 50 scientific works and teacher of several generations of scientists.
During his long scientific career he promoted 23 doctors. He was a founder of the Institute of Mathematics at Technical University in Łódź and its first Director.
He held this function for 23 years. He was also one of the organizers and founders of Faculty of Physics and Applied Mathematics (FTIMS). He was the Dean of this Faculty for 2 terms of office.
Prof. Dziubiński for his scientific, teaching and organizational achievements was awarded the Officer's Cross and Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Gold Cross of Merit and the Medal of the National Education Commission.
As a 15 year old boy he took part in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 — a heroic and tragic 63-day struggle to liberate Warsaw from Nazi/German occupation — undertaken by the Home Army (AK), the Polish resistance movement.
He was a liaison in Home Army troops, which fought in downtown and Wola districts of Warsaw.
The funeral will be held at the Catholic cemetery at the Ogrodowa Street in Łódź on June 25 at 14:15.
