The female wood duck had emerged from the tall grass first, sized up the safety of crossing the road, and then led her brood of 12 to the other side.
Earlier a lone female wood duck had made the trek.
After laying her eggs this female snapping turtle headed back to the lake.
Sometimes she just needed a break….though I don't think the middle of the road was the best place to rest.
