The Chinese Philosopher

Laozi, known as the “Ancient Child”, was the sage who compiled the teachings of Dao and was usually depicted by Chinese artists as riding a bull or a water buffalo. According to one legend, a bull arrived at Laozi’s hut one day. When the grey-haired sage sat upon the saddle, the bull set off towards the Himalayas, and they were never seen again. Laozi was one of the most revered sages and philosophers in China.
