Stocking The Canal.

I was at Alton Baker Park when the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife stocked the Alton Baker Park canal with fish. I had never seen it done before, so decided to wait and try to get a photo.

"Alton Baker Canoe Canal will be stocked this week at multiple locations along the length of the Canal with a total of 965 fish, including 150 larger fish. The Canal will be stocked at weekly intervals through the summer. Summer steelhead are occasionally caught in this system and anglers are reminded they will need a combined angling tag and a Columbia River Basin Endorsement to legally target or harvest a steelhead. It is legal to fish with two rods in the Alton Baker Canoe Canal, provided the Two-Rod Validation has been purchased. The canal is located within Alton Baker Park and can be accessed off of Club Road in Eugene. A 4-acre pond at the midpoint of the canal is a good spot but it can be fished all along its 2-mile length from Day Island Road in Eugene to Aspen Street in Springfield." - http://www.dfw.state.or.us/rr/willamette/

We have seen this many times where we have fished in the numerous Sierra lakes in Ca. Those are the times there are a lot of fisherman around. Great action shot Vern

Isn't that fascinating! I didn't realize they had to introduce fish into a place like this, only to be caught. Excellent capture, Vern.

Oh my goodness - what a life, first you are spit out into the water, then they fish you out of it...
What a capture Vern - spectacular!
