after the fires

There are many places in Australia where bush fires cause many changes...here are a few trees that failed to recover...there were hundreds, possibly thousands of them in this area. Taken with the iPhone as we drove through the section of dead forest.

This is an excellent black and white, Laine. It looks like our trees here in winter.

The power of bush fires, devastating for everyone and everything.
Your image brings it home to those of us who never experience anything like it.

A sad record of damage, but I am always amazed when many trees eventually show regeneration.

A great documentary of the fire's damage to the forest. V

Sad to see. It may be a familiar scene here in California after a very dry Winter.

A very stark scene indeed Laine.

We are a land of bushfires, but it doesn't help that the national parks are not permitting the removal of undergrowth and fallen timber...a great documentary capture...V

I imagine in the end it all works out okay. Super photojournalism. I like this in monotone. V.

Such a shame, great on the move image from the iPhone though.

It must have been shocking to drive through. Mother Nature is resilient and one day will be back in her glory.

Capturing this scene in this tone of monochrome is a powerful way to tell the story. ~V~

Sad to see, those trees would have been quite an age..

My friends took me through a badly burnt area in Melb 2 yrs ago. Very interesting to see how the plants finally start growing (but not always). Tales a long time too
